“went to see Miss Murray about careers”

Miss Murray was no more than a common-or-garden regular school teacher, far removed in advice (I would imagine?) from the professional “career counsellors” that exist nowadays.

Far be it for me to recall whatever advice she might have had. I certainly hope it wasn’t ‘professional memory man’?!

Tales of my ‘further education’ and entrance into the working world will, no doubt, be told in future entries, as I get to the mid/late 70’s diaries. Therefore, I’m loathe to pre-empt the things and thoughts I may talk about then, suffice to say that I’ve never really had a ‘career path’ as such, always luckily stumbling from one thing into the next, almost by complete accident.
