“New glasses £6.90”

They turned around the specs in one day?

How is that in 2008, with all the interim advances in technology, it takes well over a week – closer to a fortnight – to get your specs after you’ve chosen/ordered them… and yet in the early recesses of the seventies it took (apparently) just 24 hours?

Something’s gone wrong somewhere.
